Lorenzo Federici was born in Rome, Italy. He earned his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering in 2016 and his master's degree in space and astronautical engineering in 2018 at Sapienza University of Rome. At the same university, he completed his Ph.D. in aeronautical and space engineering in 2022. He joined the Space Systems Engineering Lab (SSEL) at UArizona as a visiting scholar from March to August 2021.
His research interests embrace evolutionary optimization algorithms, graph search methods, and deep learning techniques applied to robust space trajectory design and optimization and autonomous spacecraft guidance, navigation and control. He has been a postdoctoral research associate at the SSEL since November 2022.
