Neil Pearson
Neil Pearson works at the Planetary Science Institute and Lunar and Planetary Laboratory as a spectroscopy specialist. His work aims to validate and help interpret ultraviolet, visible, and infrared data taken remotely through ground-based telescopes, orbiting satellites, or airborne platforms. Projects have included characterizing surface materials of Saturn's moons, quantifying oil spilled during the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, analyzing weathering of young volcanic domes in eastern California, and helping deploy an autonomous rover for testing automation of spectral identification in the field. For the Reddy Research Group, he helps students design experiments, and he builds and maintains experimental setups used in the lab and the Space Domain Awareness Observatory.
