The Show: University of Arizona's space law class finds little regulation in a rapidly changing field
June 12, 2024
To address the legal ramifications of increased space exploration, the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and the College of Science collaborated to develop a new course on space law and policy, which provides students insight into the legal and regulatory aspects of space activities such as asteroid mining, space tourism and the deployment of communications satellites. Professor of law Andrew Woods, the legal half of the teaching team, discusses the amount of student interest, including requests for the class to be taught again in future semesters. Vishnu Reddy, Space4 director and planetary sciences professor, taught the space part of the course.
